Association Staff
Kathleen Van De Loo
Executive Director
It has been my privilege to have served as the NYSSFA’s Executive Director since 2001, when it was still called the Association for Superintendents of School Buildings and Grounds (SBGA).
I have worked with Association leadership on a variety of key initiatives over the years, including the first “It Takes a Professional” campaign, the creation of the School Facilities Management Institute (SFMI), and the passage of the Director of Facilities Law establishing a statewide Civil Service exam process for facilities directors. I was also privileged to be part of the NYSSFA when it welcomed its first female president.
I will continue to serve as the SFA’s team lead and oversee governance, advocacy, Civil Service matters and the Pathway to the Profession.

Megan Murphy
Program Director
With nine years in a high-level administrative position with a top accounting firm and more than 15 years in the hotel industry, Megan’s expertise in organization, customer service and relationship building make her a perfect fit to serve as the team lead for the School Facilties Management Institute (SFMI). Her hospitality experience also ensures she knows her way around an event space.
Megan also oversees the SFMI/SFA program calendar, work plans, Leadership Conference, fall Conference & Expo program; SFA project work, NYSERDA relations and the Facilities Assessment program.

George Chateauneuf
Trade Show Manager
Whether he’s reaching out to exhibitors, refereeing rivalries over preferred booth assignments, working with venue staff or managing the myriad logistical details of putting on a trade show, George’s expertise ensures a smooth and seamless exhibit hall experience for vendors and attendees alike.
He has developed successful conferences and trade shows, with as many as 3,000 attendees, for financial professionals, contractors, marketing professionals and more.
George is also responsible for putting a successful Conference experience literally in the palm of your hand by overseeing all things related to the Conference App.

Melissa Cathone
Membership Strategy
Melissa worked with the SFA in a variety of roles for about five years, and we are excited to welcome her back to the team.
She is an expert in the big-picture aspects of the membership experience and is currently hard at work on the membership renewal campaign. She also facilitates all meetings of the Membership Committee, assists with onboarding new members, and responds to inquiries from new and prospective members.
In addition, Melissa also brings her attention to detail and customer service skills to overseeing the Association’s accreditation programs.

Beverly Seinberg
Communications/Member Services
Before officially becoming part of the NYSSFA team, Bev spent several years combing through the news media for articles to include in the weekly Wednesday Wake Up newsletter’s “In the News” section.
For the past year, she has served as editor of the newsletter and loves to feature the latest news about our members and chapters, so send yours along!
Bev also crafts most of the written communications you receive from us, from legislative updates to reminders about registering for events. She is also the friendly voice at the other end of the NYSSFA phone line, making sure all inquiries reach the right team member.

Clare Hart
Program Coordinator
Clare has also worked with the Association in a variety of roles over the years. She is currently putting her experience to work on coordinating the Winter and Spring School Facilities Managers’ Academies and pre-Advocacy Day seminar as well as providing behind-the-scenes support for the fall Conference & Expo.
With a long memory and a wealth of patience, Clare is an invaluable resource for her colleagues in navigating their roles on our expanded NYSSFA team.

Scott Booth
Finance Manager
Scott has also been working with the NYSSFA for many years, overseeing all things financial — depositing checks, paying bills, keeping the books and reporting regularly to Association leadership.
Any association’s success is dictated by their fiscal ingenuity, and this feat requires much more than totaling money coming in and subtracting money going out. With Scott’s expertise, honed through more than years of experience, viable budgets are approved, accounts are kept in the black and board members are kept abreast of every penny.

Erin Ryan
Creative Director
Erin has more than 20 years of experience as a graphic designer, producing attention-getting print and digital materials for nonprofit organizations and businesses of all sizes. Her areas of expertise include web design, membership materials, event collateral and promotional pieces.
Erin works hard to ensure the final product isn’t just artistically creative, but that it contains messaging and design that can be carried across multiple formats to help stretch budgets further.
