A New Era of Advocacy
Each year, NYSSFA members unite to make their voices heard in Albany and across New York State. This year, we’re taking our advocacy efforts to the next level with a broader, more strategic approach designed to reach more legislators, more often, and to strengthen our collective influence throughout the entire legislative session.
Our 2026 Advocacy Campaign: Expanding Our Reach
Instead of a single in-person Advocacy Day in Albany, this year’s initiative will feature a multi-week virtual campaign supported by chapter and district-led meetings with legislators across the state. This expanded format allows more members to participate, giving every region the opportunity to connect with lawmakers and share the real-world impact of NYSSFA’s work.
While in-person meetings in Albany will still play an important role, they will now be scheduled strategically throughout the session to align with legislative activity and maximize impact.
2026 Advocacy Schedule
Association leaders will participate in a full day of 30-minute Zoom meetings with New York State legislators and senior staff, sharing NYSSFA’s legislative priorities and discussing the importance of continued investment in school facilities across the state. Key policy priorities include support for Capital Outlay funding and opposition to Project Labor Agreements (PLA) in school construction.
