RalloMy fellow NYSSFA members,

My name is Jack Rallo, and I am proud to be nominated by my chapter to run for the 3rd Vice President position on the NYS SFA board.

My career in facilities began in 1985 as a plumbing and heating apprentice for a construction firm, where I worked for 25 years. During this time, I labored alongside all trades and quickly learned how each one coordinates to complete a project. After a short time, I became a foreman and assisted project managers in their efforts to complete jobs efficiently. I learned to read plans, estimate, purchase materials, and coordinate projects. I managed, trained, and assisted many staff members, leading them through the work and coordinating multi-million-dollar projects that included all aspects of construction.

I accepted a position at Monroe Woodbury CSD as an HVAC technician in January 2014. I worked diligently to assist the district in improving their facilities' HVAC systems. I assisted the energy management team in setting up the HVAC systems to achieve their goal of energy conservation and financial savings. I also was a core member of the District Strategic Planning team. I attended trainings in Building Management Systems and BOC classes, as well as became a member of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of NYSSFA.

In July 2019, I enthusiastically accepted the Director of Facilities III position at South Orangetown CSD. In this new role, I applied various experiences that I had from many years in construction and facilities management. I was able to complete several million dollars of projects over the last three years. I implemented a preventive maintenance program for the facilities department. I created an energy conservation program, which included educating students and staff on the importance of energy efficiency and recycling. I chaired and assisted multiple committees throughout the district, including Health and Safety, Districtwide Safety, and Facilities Planning. Our work in facilities planning aided the district in getting a $50,000,000 bond approved for Classroom renovations and HVAC upgrades. I worked on several committees during COVID on reopening plans, both for the district and Rockland County.

I live in Orange County with my wife Melissa of 29 years, where we raised our two children, Michael, 26, and Jessica, 23. I am an active member of the Rockland County Chapter of NYSSFA. I also volunteered my time with youth sports, coaching travel soccer and baseball. I was a Scoutmaster for several years, assisting youths in achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. I have an associate degree in business management and have several licenses in HVAC, Building Operator Certification, and Asbestos Supervisor/Handler Certification.
I have served the Rockland County Chapter of NYSSFA as a State Director for the past two years and assisted in facilitating our chapter meetings. I always offered any support that I could to other Director of Facilities, both in my own chapter as well as throughout the surrounding chapters. Throughout my years in the Chapter, I’ve attended the SFMI Academies, Leadership weekend, and State Conferences.

I’ve always felt that it is important to support the goals of the Association and its members. I feel it is very important to be involved and participate in the advancement of the Director of School Facilities positions. I look forward to working with all of you and the SFA Board to achieve those goals and ask for your support in becoming your next Third Vice President.

Respectfully,

Jack Rallo
